All of our alloy steel rigging and lifting chains are heat treated to provide industry-leading load capacity and durability. Some steel rigging chains are approved for overhead lifting while others are not, so it is important to always know what type of lifting chain is required for your particular rigging application
A studless anchor chain is a type of chain used in maritime applications for anchoring ships or offshore structures. it is designed to provide reliable and secure mooring capabilities in various marine environments. Unlike traditional stud-link anchor chains, which have protruding studs on their links for added strength and stability, studless anchor chains have smooth, cylindrical links without any studs.
Anchor chains are categorized into two types: non-geared anchor chains and geared anchor chains. The grades of each type are determined by the applicable international standards. The following are the grades and corresponding tensile strengths for each type:
Studless anchor chains:
Grade 1: Tensile strength ranges from 27.5 kN to 72.5 kN.
Grade 2: Tensile strength ranges from 39 kN to 102 kN.
Grade 3: Tensile strength ranges from 52 kN to 132 kN.
Stud anchor chains:
U1:Tensile strength of 170
U2: Tensile strength of 200
U3:Tensile strength of 250
To distinquish the grades of each type, you can check the markings on the anchor chain. Anchor chains are typically marked with letters and numbers indicating the chain diameter, chain link length, and anchor chain grade. For studless anchor chains, the markings may include "G1""G2", and "G3" to indicate the grade. For stud anchor chains, the markings may include "U1", "U2", and "U3" to indicate the grade. it is important to carefully check the markings and other relevant information when purchasing anchor chains to ensure that the appropriate grade is selected for the specific application.
